TDW Carries Out First Ever High Temperature STOPPLE® Train Intervention

T.D. Williamson (TDW), a leading supplier of pipeline services and equipment, announced that it has completed its first ever STOPPLE® Train pipeline intervention on a high temperature line. It was also the first time that the company had carried out a STOPPLE Train pipeline intervention in Kazakhstan. The system was used to create a double block and bleed isolation in order to replace a leaking valve on a high temperature steam line at a key oil and gas processing plant.

The Consortium of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development has begun evaluating binding transportation offers from Nabucco West and TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) consortia, offering to carry Azerbaijani gas into Europe, BP Azerbaijan reported on Thursday.

According to the report, this represents another important milestone in the realisation of the Southern Gas Corridor.

Eleven leading companies in Europe have joined forces in the newly established North Sea Power to Gas Platform to further develop the concept of Power-to-Gas (P2G): the conversion of renewable power into gas. P2G will play an increasingly important role in our future energy system, as it reduces temporal surpluses of renewable power by converting these surpluses into gases. As these gases can be used for different purposes such as transportation, domestic heating, as feedstock for the chemical industry, and power generation, the potential value of P2G is considerable.

Starting 29 April 2013 the German transmission system operator Open Grid Europe GmbH and the Belgian TSO Fluxys Belgium will be using PRISMA primary – the new European capacity platform – to launch the marketing of a cross-border bundled day-ahead product between the Belgian virtual trading point ZTP and the Virtual Trading Point of NetConnect Germany (NCG VHP) on a permanent basis.

Five European gas infrastructure companies commit to working together to develop carbon neutral gas supply by 2050

During Gas Week in the European Parliament yesterday, gas infrastructure companies GRTgaz (France) and Swedegas (Sweden) joined the initiative by Gasunie (The Netherlands), Energinet.dk (Denmark) and Fluxys Belgium (Belgium) to deliver a carbon neutral gas supply by 2050.

In signing the common commitment, the companies agree to work together across borders in order to exchange knowledge and best practice on ways to develop a 100% carbon-neutral gas supply by 2050, in line with the EU energy and climate goals.

First issue of the new Pipeline Technology Journal launched successfully during ptc 2013

The first issue of the new ptj covers reports about research, development and technology, news from industry and practice and latest information about pipeline conferences and other related event information. The ptj was sent to more than 11,000 international decision makers and experts of the pipeline industry shortly before the Pipeline Technology Conference 2013 opened and hard copies were handed out to the ptc delegates.

First ptc seminar on ILI attended by 16 international participants - more specialized seminars will follow

The 2-day seminar on "In-line inspection of transmission pipelines" started directly after the 8th Pipeline Technology Conference on 21 March 2013. Some of the international ptc delegates from Saudi Arabia, Libya, Switzerland and Germany made use of the opportunity to stay for two more days in Hannover in order to go further into details and to meet some potential future business partners. The two lecturers Dr. Michael Beller and Dr. Konrad Reber gave a comprehensive overview on the technical backgrounds, latest ILI technologies in the market, reporting and defect assessment.
