Abstract

For decades, the Oil & Gas industry has continued to develop and grow. Many of the oldest assets remain in production, and pipelines still transport valuable products. However, these pipelines were not originally designed with today’s inspection requirements in mind, such as launchers, receivers, and conventional elbows often present significant challenges. Yet, ensuring pipeline integrity through Inline Inspection (ILI) is essential.
So, how can inspections be performed in compliance on pipelines that were never designed for this purpose?
At Intero, we have developed advanced technologies that adapt inline inspection tools to a higher level, making it possible to reach targets in so-called unpiggable lines. Following extensive studies and testing, we engineered a dedicated tool capable of inspecting pipelines with extremely restrictive elbows, down to 0.8D. To validate its performance, the tool underwent rigorous testing in our purpose-built test loop at the Intero Inspection Center of Excellence in Tricht, The Netherlands.
This innovation has already been proven in the field: Intero successfully inspected two in-product pipelines, each 20” in diameter and 1000 m in length, under an exceptionally tight schedule due to the strategic importance of these lines for the customer.
By minimizing operational disruptions, avoiding costly pipeline modifications, and enabling challenging inspections, Intero delivers specific and flexible solutions that reflect our expertise and vision.
