Intero is at the forefront of this evolution with the development of Pipeline Surveyor Centrix, Intero’s innovation that utilizes phased-array technology to inspect pipelines with exceptional precision.
Centrix is designed for even the most challenging unpiggable pipeline. Intero’s high resolution ultrasonic pipeline surveyor system is an advanced free-swimming corrosion detection pig combined with a high-accuracy geometry inspection tool, combined with XYZ services. The bi-directional system is specifically designed for inspecting challenging pipelines, even for pipelines with dual sizes. This technology provides a more comprehensive view of pipeline conditions in real-time, enhancing data accuracy and enabling better decision-making for asset integrity. The compact ultrasound sensor head with rotating focused sensor system features annular phased array technology (patented) that allows for adaptive focusing to optimize the measurement quality and sensitivity irrespective of the inspection medium it operates in.
To validate Centrix's capabilities, Intero collaborated with a key customer to execute an extensive inspection program. The program involved inspecting a 42inch-44inch dual diameter pipeline using the crude oil product as inspection medium. The pipeline spans from onshore terminal to subsea PLEM via SBM (single buoy mooring) system. Due to un-availability of subsea pig traps, the inspection was completed bi-directionally. A fiber optic umbilical cable allows monitoring the inspection in real time.
