
In the past, the company processes have in most cases been adapted to the issues of planning, construction and operation. The product development of asset management technologies in the context of construction activities and maintenance has been focused on this within the framework of the Geographic Information Systems.
The Covid19 crisis, the Ukraine war and the globally recognizable climate changes make it clear that pipeline operators need to focus more on the issues surrounding resilience in order to better protection of their assets, employees and society from potential threats.
European legislation has already reacted to this and created a basis with the KRITIS legislation. This extends the prevention topics to areas beyond IT security and cybercrime. Forest fires, floods, storms, pandemics, sabotage and armed conflicts are increasing the danger situation, for which a risk analysis is more necessary than ever.
Using a spatial information system (GIS), the operators have built up extensive data and so-called Digital Twins around their asset descriptions. This must be blended with the available data from public and private data to enable three things:
- Assessment of the existing risks and their potential effects in the event of damage,
- Communication and information on the justification of protective measures to be taken,
- Provision of an information and communication basis in the event of damage to optimize and support the relief measures.
The paper aims to identify ways in which the necessary data integration, analysis and reporting can be achieved.
