Abstract

In today's rapidly changing energy landscape, the modernization of control room operations has emerged as top priority. The presentation will discuss the role that energy industry leaders have, when it comes to ensuring the safe, reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective operations of their assets. It reviews the power of modernization, shedding light on the impact it has on safety, operator well-being, and asset longevity.

It is vital to enable control rooms with autonomous operations that address the challenges faced by control room operators everyday. Control room operators are faced with complicated and monotonous tasks, often leading to a large amount of context switching and overload of commands, resulting in inefficiencies, fatigue, and reduced throughput across the pipelines, translating to revenue losses and costs for the company.

To help with these challenges, companies are investing in the digital innovation of control room operations through the use of automation software. The incorporation of technologies like pipeBOT emerges as a game-changer for the energy industry. The implementation of our solution has demonstrated a reduction in the control room operator's commands by 92%. pipeBOT™ has also proven its effectiveness in enhancing safety - as it reduces alarm occurrences by 65%. Automation has contributed to maintaining the integrity of assets by minimizing pressure variations, showing a 30% improvement. The use of pipeBOT™ ensures operations in today’s critical infrastructure are executed as efficiently and safely as possible.

These findings offer valuable solutions for the pipeline industry seeking to leverage automation and unlock the potential of the future control room. By embracing these advancements, the energy sector can forge a path towards an efficient, secure, and prosperous future.
