Abstract

Trapil, a French leader in the transportation of energy products via pipeline, has been developing and operating inspection tools for over 40 years to detect corrosion, metal loss, geometric defects, cracks, and laminations that can affect pipelines.

With the advent of Phased Array technology combined with the growing frequency of inspections driven by the demand for ever more abundant, reliable, and accurate data, the amount of data recorded by ILI tools for analysis has recently surged dramatically. Managing this massive data flow is a major challenge for ILI tool operators, who are committed to maintaining the highest service quality for their clients while minimizing report delivery times. To address these new challenges, TRAPIL has launched an ambitious research program based on advanced AI technologies. This technology enables faster and more accurate assessment of pipeline integrity, reducing the time analysts spend on repetitive tasks and allowing them to focus on higher value-added expertise and actions. The development process involved rigorous training, evaluation and optimization of the digital model to ensure compliance with industry safety standards, making it a valuable tool for the pipeline inspection industry.

This presentation will cover the program's objectives, the technological building blocks and methods employed, the tests and validations conducted, and the results and benefits achieved.
