Abstract
Organizations face today a growing communicative pressure whenever they want to carry out industrial or infrastructure projects relevant to the public. One key learning in recent years has been to integrate early public participation in the whole process of project development. With the Guideline “Early public participation in industrial and infrastructure projects” the Association of German Engineers developed a comprehensive orientation for project developers. Christian Moeller will illustrate how the guideline can be applied and will point out critical factors for success for pipeline projects. A special focal point will be new opportunities to enhance public dialogue with digital tools: How can digital tools help to better manage stakeholder interactions and organize feedback loops with the public that supports both the planning and approval process as well as public acceptance?
