Abstract
Pipeline incidents in North America in 2009 caused a great deal of public outcry. The US government instructed the pipeline regulator PHMSA to improve pipeline safety. PHMSA have responded with new Proposed Rulemakings and increased auditing. This paper will show the direction that industry in North America is taking to meet PHMSA's expectations.
