Current Challenges Facing the Pipeline Industry
Over 600 participants from 55 different countries will meet on May 2-4, 2017, for the 12th Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) in Berlin. For 12 years, the conference and its accompanying exhibition has been central meeting point for the international pipeline industry. As this year’s keynote speaker, the President of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), Stephan Kamphues, will describe the current challenges facing European pipeline operators while addressing questions related to Brexit. Two plenary discussions lead by Heinz Watzka among others will address this and future developments in pipeline technology. In 70 presentations in 20 technical sessions and a scientific poster session, pipeline operators, planners, construction companies, technology providers and research institutes will report on current developments in the areas of standards & regulations, inline inspection, integrity management, automation, leak detection, trenchless technologies, construction, planning & design, decommissioning, repair, composite repair, coating, offshore technologies and safety. As in previous years, the results of the conference will be made available to the professional public in the open paper database. At the accompanying exhibition, the world’s leading technology and service providers will present themselves and will be available to engage in detailed discussions with visitors. The overall program will be accompanied by a range of evening events which partners are also invited to attend. These events will offer the participants a number of opportunities to meet colleagues from all over the world. Conference Chairman Dr. Klaus Ritter cites the comprehensive spectrum of topics as a central success factor for the rapid growth of the ptc: “Pipeline operators and industry representatives from across the globe who come to Berlin every year highly value the exchange between colleagues from the areas of oil, gas, water, products, offshore, onshore, planning, construction, operation and maintenance. Thinking outside the box often helps us to discover new solutions.” For more information on the conference program and the different ways to participate as a guest or an exhibitor, go to www.pipeline-conference.com. The topics featured at the Pipeline Technology Conference will also be discussed from September 17-19, 2017 at the “Pipeline-Pipe-Sewer-Technology” partner event in Cairo, Egypt.
