From 12-14 March 2018 Berlin will again host Europe’s leading pipeline conference and exhibition. The 13th edition of the Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) provides a comprehensive overview of all developments in the onshore and offshore pipeline industry – covering planning & design, construction, operation and maintenance. “The ptc conference has become the biggest and most important pipeline conference in Europe. At last we have a big pipeline event in Europe that could compete with IPC in Calgary and IBP in Rio”, said Asle Venas, Global Director Pipelines at Norwegian DNV GL during ptc 2016. Every year more than 600 pipeline operators as well as technology and service providers, researchers and regulators from 50 different countries gain insight into the latest technologies and new undertakings in the pipeline industry at the ptc. Ferenc Péterfalvi, Pipeline Operation Manager at Hungarian MOL GROUP underscored the value of the ptc for his company: “I have been attending ptc for years. It is good to meet old acquaintances and to get to know new colleagues. In addition to the European focus, we can see how our industry is advancing technologically elsewhere in the world. Several concepts and solutions introduced to us during the conference have been implemented and we are already seeing net efficiencies in our operations.“ The 2018 edition will feature 2 panel discussions on pipeline safety and public awareness and 18 technical sessions covering all aspects of life-time extension strategies for ageing and future pipeline projects. More than 70 exhibiting companies from all over the world will present their solutions in the ptc exhibition hall where all conference breaks will take place, affording at the same time great networking opportunities. Two seminars on “Inline Inspection” and “Geohazards in Pipeline Engineering” will conclude the program on the following two days. Results of the ptc are published for free on the event website and in special issues of the Pipeline Technology Journal (ptj). The technical papers of the 2017 special session “Safety by DVGW – German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water” have recently been published in a ptj special issue on “Pipeline Safety in Germany”.
