Abstract

Our world is transforming and rapidly becoming digital. Digital twins are abstracting and modeling everything. They improve pipeline operators’ business processes, reduce risk, optimize operational efficiencies, and enhance decision-making with automation to predict outcomes.

Digital twins provide greater context to solve business challenges by creating relationships and streamlining workflows. Geographic information system (GIS) technology is foundational for any digital twin. This presentation will explore how geospatial technology interconnects information, systems, models, and behaviors with spatial context, creating holistic digital representations of pipeline assets to support operational efficiencies and drive bottom line savings to the organization.

We will explore four key areas key to developing a true pipeline digital twin:

Data Capture and integration

  • Data modeling
  • System integration and management
  • Reality capture
  • Feature creation and extraction

Real time and Visualization

  • Dashboards and reporting
  • Real-time Internet of Things (IoT) integration
  • Insights and analytics
  • Advanced visualization

Sharing and Collaboration

  • Dynamic visual communication
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Pervasive data access
  • Information transparency

Analyze and Predict

  • Automation (AI/ML/DL)
  • Simulation and scenario modeling
  • Forecasting
