Abstract
VNG - Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft (VNG) based at Leipzig (Germany) is a European natural gas importer. Its core business is in wholesale, transportation and storage management and innovative energy services.

In line with German standards and regulations, VNG’s Storage Service Department maintains the pipeline systems leased to network operator ONTRAS using service contractors. The scheme, in effect since 2002, was audited and approved pursuant to DVGW Regulation G 1000 „Required qualifications and organisation of companies operating installations for public gas supply through pipeline systems“ in 2008.

Under the High Pressure Gas Pipeline Regulation, DVGW Codes, and in particular worksheets G 466, part 1 and G 495 are applicable to maintenance work. As VNG uses service contractors, in-house standards have been set to underpin these requirements. Compliance is monitored by VNG Maintenance Coordinators who assign, document and bill all jobs electronically.
