Abstract
The VPL System (VIETZ-Pipeline-Laser-System), which has been patented world wide by VIETZ GmbH, is being tested by the mentioned three institutes with regard to its applicability for pipeline constriction.
The results of the welding trials with a 20 kW laser are explained detail for the different welding positions. The metallurgical analyses – transformation of structure due to heat input, yield points and hardness values – analyzed by TU Aachen, are presented up to steel grade X 70.
The penetration sensor systems, analyzed by BIAS, are demonstrated for the application on pipeline jobsites.
