Pipelines are being designed and built in different countries across the world according to standards and regulations at the time of design and construction. Pipeline operators face a number of challenges with their integrity management programs mainly driven by the following factors: - Network design and legacy - Local regulation and compliance requirements - Data management and availability of public data - Operational history and specifics The driving factors are discussed with examples taken from transmission system operators of natural gas, liquefied gas or liquids in Central Europe and the United States.
