Virtual Pipeline Summit on "Digital Transformation of the Pipeline Industry" on 30 June

VPS LogoThe cancellation and reorganization of the 15th Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) has shown that a highly international platform like ptc can currently only be run online. Following the lessons learnt from the first ever online ptc the organizing EITEP Institute has developed a new online event concept offering extended knowledge transfer and networking features. The Virtual Pipeline Summit (VPS) will provide a comprehensive overview and competitive technology showcase of a spectrum of problems and solutions related to the "Digital Transformation in the Pipeline Industry" in these challenging times. Statements from the ptc Community

12 March 2020

Dear ptc Community,

In our previous email, we informed you about the reorganization of ptc 2020 into an interactive online version. Even though we know that such an online version cannot replace the face-to-face contacts of an exhibition and conference, we want to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and the networking between exhibitors and participants in times of travel restrictions and cancellations of events. The online platform will be provided in the form of a smartphone app for Android and iOS (and a web version for regular PC). The app will include a wide range of networking opportunities for speakers, participants, exhibitors and sponsors and will offer a variety of interactive features:
  • Browse through 100+ technical presentations and download papers, presentations and videos
  • Get in touch with the speakers and join open discussions for specific presentations
  • Take a look into the list of participants and establish contacts and chat with the registered participants within the app
  • Get detailed information about the 90+ sponsors and exhibitors and get in touch with dedicated contact persons
  • Join the general discussion and post your statements and questions within the central Activity Feed with the possibility to like and comment
  • Take part in live polls and surveys (e.g. ptc Photo Contest)
  • More features are currently under development
We will send out invitations to join the app from next week and would like to invite all our participants to join the discussion during the originally announced conference and exhibition dates 31 March till 2 April 2020. In addition to the conference and exhibition we are also working on a possibility to offer part of the ptc Seminar on Monday 30 March as webinars / webcast. Please see attached PDF file for details. More information will follow shortly. Best regards, Dennis Fandrich & Marian Ritter Director Conferences & Director Exhibitions
6 March 2020

Dear ptc Community,

As organizer of an event with a high degree of internationality, the EITEP Institute observes the development of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since long with great attention. The health and safety of our partners, participants and exhibitors is our highest priority. As in the past years, we have made every effort to guarantee you a successful, pleasant and above all safe event. The continuing great success of ptc shows that we were able to meet all of your expectations. With the growth of the coronavirus pandemic we have been forced to revise our risk assessment, which we base on recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the World Health Organization (WHO). For an objective discussion and more information on the coronavirus, we refer to the websites of WHO and RKI. In cooperation with the venues, we were able to work out measures that enabled all parties to hold a safe event. Following this assessment, on 04 March 2020, the public health department in Berlin, which is responsible for us, has imposed further conditions for the event. Unfortunately, we are not able to meet these requirements. Even though a considerable amount of preparatory work has already been done, we have therefore decided, in consultation with the Chairmen of the Advisory Committee, to cancel the 15th Pipeline Technology Conference. In order to make use of the rich content that has already been prepared, we are right now working on a solution to offer an online version of ptc 2020. We will keep you updated. We regret this development, especially as we are proud that the ptc has enabled so much professional exchange and personal closeness that the number of participants and exhibitors has increased by 20% - 25% annually over the last 6 years. I very much regret what is happening. We thank all our speakers, participants, sponsors, exhibitors, supporters and the whole ptc community for their engagement and commitment to the ptc and hope that you will remain part of the ptc family. We will keep you updated. Dr. Klaus Ritter President EITEP Institute
