Abstract
Wind power now accounts for one third of all new power installations since 2000 in the EU. The vast network of feeder cabling and transmission line infrastructure required to interconnect these generators can pose significant threats to pipeline infrastructure. These threats include, threats to personnel safety as well as pipeline integrity and are not always detectable through traditional field measurement techniques. In this paper, Corrpro presents a case study showcasing the use of sophisticated computer modeling software to predicted AC interference effects of a wind power feeder and transmission line network on nearby high pressure gas lines, and design appropriate solutions to minimize the risks identified.
