Within the current debate about Europe’s energy outlook natural gas, especially those volumes from eastern sources play an important role. A remarkable number of pipeline projects and LNG-terminals as well are proposed to connect the regions of strong and rapidly growing demand with the gas rich countries supporting the idea of increased diversity and reliability of supplies. All of them come along with their special technology highlights and there special political and economic background story. The review-presentation will highlight both aspects about all the new “natural gas highways” from the east, like Nabuco, Nord Stream in combination with Opal, NEL and Gazelle, South Stream, Yamal II etc.
